Skills and Qualifications

I was working as a part time lecturer at UEL, teaching software development using object oriented languages, web designing and network programming. Being in this field for so many years, I am aware of the duties and the role of a lecturer and an administrator. I am specialised in computing and can provide the students with instructions and explanation of the different topics. I am patient with my work and can explain the subject matter over and over again. Other than this, I develop a class schedule which comprises daily lesson. I believe demonstrations can help students learn more. I am flexible with work timing and can guide my students whenever they need any help. Also, my teaching experiences have allowed me to work with students from a variety of backgrounds.
I possess knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation, exceptional attention to details, and excellent communication skills. The last 6 years of my career I have concentrated on teaching and acquiring all the managerial skills. Recently I've taken more responsibilities in teaching and management.

On my job, I had several complicated processes that I would have to do on a regular basis. In addition to just doing those processes, I documented each process step by step , and created a shared directory where other members of my team could access the information. No one asked me to do this, and it was required or even expected. Some years later, people still come by with one of those documents to ask me a question, and they tell me how valuable the information has been for them and how much they appreciate my taking the time to do that. Examples include: -

  1. Connecting Database to Visual Basic, Java and Macromedia Front-End.
  2. Generating Codes in UML
  3. Creating and Updating SQL Passwords
  4. Generating UNIX Passwords

With a BSc and MSc degree in Distributed Information Systems and Computer Forensics I have a full understanding of the full life cycle of a software development project. I also have experience in learning and excelling at new technologies as needed. My experience includes but is not limited to: -

  1. Programming both new applications and maintenance work
  2. Problem Isolation and Analysis
  3. Software Quality Testing
  4. Application and requirement analysis

I believe that education is the key to success for students. As a lecturer, I hope to motivate students in ascertaining their inner strengths and abilities and discovering what truly inspires them. I am to provide a stimulating learning environment that encourages students to trust their own opinions, while fostering confidence in order for students to realize their full potential. I hope to instil a love of learning and a desire for constant knowledge with each student.

In general, a well organized, self motivated individual with excellent communication skills at all levels and the ability to work as part of a team or on own initiative as required. Computer literate with knowledge of a range of software applications, including Word and Excel, and willing to undertake further training. I have excellent students service skills which were put to good use working in the teaching/training sector. Whilst I have solely managed all aspects of business administration.
